Late-night notes on AI companions

Hi everyone, I'm Elias, the owner of a small project called Lovender. I keep this page as a notebook for things I learned while building it.

Why I started

A few winters ago I moved to a new city for work. The days were busy, but the evenings were very quiet, and most chat apps I tried forgot me as soon as I closed them. I wanted something that would ask how the interview went, not just answer questions.

What I learned

• Memory matters more than clever replies. People stay when they feel remembered.
• Personality is a choice. Some people want calm, some want playful. Let them pick.
• No judgement. Many conversations happen at 2am. Nobody wants a lecture then.
• Be honest. An AI companion is not a replacement for real friends, and it should say so.

Where it ended up

All of this became an AI companion app with real memory, where you choose the personality you click with and just talk. If you try it, I'd love to hear what you think.
